A short introduction to the Myriad Scouts
This is a huge work-in-progress, but I'm really excited about it. This is my passion Project. It's a big project with lots of challenges, but I'm really enjoying working on it. My working title is Strange Handbook, but this won't be the final title.
I spent a long time working on this in different forms and different ways. I'm finally focusing and making decisions instead of just living with nebulous, endless possibilities. Things will still change, but it's better to edit something real than wait until it's perfect.
The elevator pitch is "a handbook for scouts in a Stargate-style planet-hopping universe."

Rough Sketches for Uniforms

My dream is to create an in-universe book that is fun to read or look at, whether you want to engage with it as a game or not. Inside the handbook would be a role-playing game built into the book as if it were something the scouts play.

Some Rough Sketches

I'm inspired by growing up in scouts, now being a leader in scouts for my daughter, playing Tabletop RPGs, watching Adventure Time, Scavengers Reign, Stargate, Project Hail Mary, and countless sci-fi, anime, and cartoons.

Myriad Language is a fully functional language inspired by Toki Pona, and focused on being simple and inclusive.

A Myriad Scout

I want something that's silly but also serious. There are an endless number of wild cartoonish creatures, but there is also a fully functional language designed to help everyone communicate.

Final Color Scheme

Color Experiments: I was searching for something that was either monochromatic or close to it.

Originally, I was planning on making a radio for the adventures, but I realized that a "compass" makes a lot more sense. I came up with this design, mostly inspired by the Game Boy and Star Trek Tricorders.

Myriad Scout Promises

Oath
On my honor, I will strive to act with empathy for all life,
To respect others' freedoms,
To uphold their right to make decisions about their own body, life, and future,
To use logic, reason, and evidence to form my beliefs,
And to struggle for justice, accountability, healing, and reconciliation.

Motto
Be curious.

Adventure Code
Think ahead, be safe, and respect nature.
If you are interested in seeing where this goes, please support me on Ko-fi, it would help me a lot (and you can follow along with the other crazy projects I'm working on)!
